KPSC Unisex Jersey Short Sleeve Tee, Handala Pride
Kitsap Palestine Solidarity Coalition was founded in early 2024 and is made up of a diverse group of Kitsap locals, including Palestinians, Jews and allies working together for an end to the Israeli Occupation. We decided to make shirts available to the public to fundraise for organizations providing aid in Gaza. See our Linktree for a list.
The inspiration for this piece is the character Handala, by Palestinian artist Naji al-Ali. Handala was created in 1969 to represent Naji’s child self when he was expelled from his home. Handala symbolizes solidarity with the poor, resistance to occupation and influence of the West, and a day when Palestine is free, when Handala can finally grow up. Handala is colored in a rainbow to represent the powerful allyship Palestine has seen from members of the LBGTQ community, and to combat Pink-Washing, which is propaganda used by anti-Palestinian racists to excuse the decades long genocide on the people of Palestine by Israel.
You don't need to be a part of the KPSC to wear this shirt- you just need to be someone who practices nonviolent action, works to dispel Islamaphobia, anti-Palestinian racism and antisemitism. Basically, someone who leads with love!
